In addition to the evaluation criteria, each assignment will be evaluated on these three constants: Composition, craftsmanship, creative expression and medium usage.
Your Grade
1. Projects- these are the main part of your grade. They will be art pieces developed and executed in class after an explanation of art concepts. The points will be from 50/50 or 100/100 based on the difficulty of the piece. This grade measures the student’s understanding and mastery of specific concepts within the visual language.
2. Daily work could be anything from daily bell work to lessons taught in preparation for the project. Points will be from five to ten points. There may not be a need to have daily work every day.
3. Homework, yes, homework will be given in preparation for the project. Points will be from 5 to 10.
4. Weekly sketchbook drawing grades for the 1st six weeks a weekly drawing will be turned in on each Wednesday. These drawing will be from the student’s choice. They must be original- not traced—you may look at something and sketch it but no tracing. They can be colored or just shaded. Points will be 20 for each sketch. They must have a foreground, middle ground and background to be finished pieces.
5. Major tests and minor quizzes- Test will be given at the end of each major unit. Notes and information will be covered during the unit. Minor quizzes will be given during the unit to build the knowledge on the topic. Test will be 50 or 100 points. Quizzes will be 10 or 20 points—based on the number of questions.
6. Course grades will follow the guidelines set in the handbook. Academic dishonesty will result in a grade of F for the assignment. This includes coping or tracing drawings. If a sketch is in question, you will be asked to sketch it in my presence with out looking at the sketch. If you honestly sketched the drawing, you will remember how to sketch the objects.
